Can You Manipulate Other People's Dream?

Dream manipulation is also known as the ability to enter and control dreams of other beings through the mind. Those who possess dream manipulation can penetrate other people's dreams, alter them and even cause viscous nightmares. The rare ability to recognize when to dream and control aspects of the dream can be improved through training.

Some studies have attempted to communicate with lucid dreamers by using stimuli such as light, shock and sound that penetrate people's dreams. Northwestern and a team of three other independent teams (France, the Netherlands and Germany) did just that on Thursday and their work, published in the journal Current Biology Thursday, sheds light on the role of lucid dreaming in communicating with a sleepy person during rapid eye movements (REM) during sleep. The sophisticated study examined how to decipher and develop a communication code between lucid dreamers and researchers during REM sleep, i.e. When dreams take place.

Several people are actually able to experience so-called lucid dreaming in which they are actually able to control certain elements of their dreams. Research shows that approximately half of the population have had a clear dream at some point in their lives, and 11% have one or two clear dreams per month. We have long tried to understand how we dream and what the content of our dreams is and how it becomes clear during our sleep and gives a window into parts of our mind that we can no longer access in our waking life.

Depending on whether you are trying to create a clear dream, whether you are trying to dream of a specific content or whether you are just trying to dream of a solution to a certain personal or objective problem, the details of someone else's control may be different.

New research from the University of Adelaide has shown that a certain combination of techniques can increase people's chances of having a clear dream, where the dreamer is aware that he is dreaming, but dreams happen without any control over the experience. For the first time, researchers had conversations with lucid dreamers who were interested in novel questions and mathematical problems - people who are aware that they actually dream.

By measuring people's brain activity while awake, the researchers were able to capture the signatures of certain dream images, such as the key to a bed when the dreamer was asleep. When the team tried to read dream images of a person watching brain activity, they found common patterns in a broad class of images such as landscapes and people, Tamaki told LiveScience. The results showed that the same brain regions were activated when people were awake, regardless of whether they had an associated dream.

Proponents of the Activation Synthesis theory believe that dreams can feel strange, with random images and thoughts making little sense when combined. Some people, like lucid dreamers, have the ability to experience the consciousness of their dreams and reawaken aspects of their waking consciousness. Out-of-body experiences, on the other hand, contain elements of confusion and have dreamlike properties.

It is this ability to make dreams last for hours that is interesting, and new research suggests that waking up can have benefits. Lucid dreaming gets one because it is mentioned in the writings of the Greek philosopher Aristotle in the fourth century BC, and scientists first observed lucid dreaming in the 1970 "s by experimenting with rapid eye movements (REM) - the sleep phase in which most dreams occur. Some people - Lucid Dreamers - can take control by intentionally acting in the dream world (think Leonardo DiCaprio in the Inception film).

Recent experiments have shown that we forget most of the dream when we dream during sleep, but not during REM sleep. Lucid and non-lucid REM sleep are two states in which our conscious experience differs, but the general brain state remains the same: at the time of dreaming we are still in REM sleep. Studies that have examined the ability of people to make conscious decisions in the wake of a life of clear or non-lucid dreams have found a high degree of overlap in willpower when we are awake, even when we have a lucid dream.

Techniques for lucid dreaming There are many techniques people can use when they want to try lucid dreaming and perfect their lucid dreaming experiences. The most striking difference between people, says Dr Barrett, is that the majority of people who remember their dreams the most each night increase their chances of clear dreaming by using certain techniques.

This tells you how to enter and manipulate another person's dreams while they sleep. Before you fall asleep, rehearse the dream in your head and imagine becoming aware of what you are dreaming. During the first part of a normal eight-hour sleep, systematically check that you are awake, and throughout the day you will find that you are doing this in dreams, making it more likely that you have clear dreams.

The easiest way to realise that you are dreaming is knowing that your dreams speak a familiar language of recurring places, people and themes. When you start noticing patterns in your dreams, Bourke says, it helps you write down your dreams as soon as you wake up. This is a great way to gain clarity if you can identify certain people, events, places or situations that appear in a dream or nightmare and how they act as landmarks in the dream world.

Once located, identify these dream signs and train your subconscious to recognize them the next time they appear. For example, if you realize that you are dreaming of your old friend, you can use this as a trigger to realize that you have dreamed of someone else. Lucid dreaming is when you become aware of another person while dreaming of them, and you focus on the person in the dream by saying their name and concentrating on entering their dream world (or at least the meaning of the person, not you) through a familiar portal.
